Caring for our environment is one of the Port of Bellingham's core values. The port looks for opportunities to support transformational change for a cleaner, healthier environment. To apply environmental stewardship principles in its operations, the port uses a multi-faceted approach that includes:
EnviroStars
The Bellingham Cruise Terminal, Squalicum Harbor, and Blaine Harbor have all earned the highest possible (five star) ratings from EnviroStars. EnviroStars is a joint effort of the Whatcom County Health Department and the Regional EnviroStars Cooperative to measure pollution prevention and waste reduction activities and certify environmentally-minded facilities. The higher the star rating, the more proactive the facility has been.
