Bellwether Jazz Festival Logo

Sponsored by the Port of Bellingham and the Jazz Project, the Bellwether Jazz Festival will bring a variety of jazz styles to Tom Glenn Common on the picturesque Bellwether on the Bay™ peninsula. Food vendors and a beer and wine garden (21 and over) will be on site, with proceeds from alcohol sales going to support The Jazz Project’s underwriting programs for the Bellingham Youth Jazz Band, the Scholarship Lesson Fund, The Piano Liberation Organization, Medical Fund and other valuable Jazz Project community services.

Bellwether Jazz Festival: Saturday, September 10, 2011, 2-7pm

Performance Schedule:

• 2:00 – 3:15pm: Jennifer Scott Quartet-one of the more important jazz artists working in Canada and the United States today. Featuring Vancouver-based pianist-vocalist Jennifer Scott, Jud Sherwood drums, Chuck Kistler bass, and Josh Cook saxophone.

• 3:30 – 4:45pm: Blues Union, a soulful groove machine with John Carswell on B3 Organ, Jud Sherwood drums, Chris Spencer guitar, and Josh Cook saxophone.

• 5:00 – 7:00pm: Sambatuque a Seattle-based Samba group featuring a vibrant and eclectic blend of music from Brazil and the Caribbean.

Cost: Enjoying the music is FREE! In the beer and wine garden (21+ with ID), there will be a $5 dollar entry fee that also gets you your first beverage.

Seating: We will provide patio-style chairs, benches, and tables on the plaza. Also, feel free to bring your own blankets or lawn chairs to spread out on the grass near the stage.

Food: Food vendors will be on site including Anthony's Restaurant, Boundary Bay Brewery, Giuseppe's Al Porto Restaurant, Harborside Restaurant, and Subway Sandwich Shop. Food options are listed on the event pages, with a link below. You can also bring your own picnic food to the event. Remember, alcohol consumption is only allowed in the beer and wine garden.
