PORT LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE
People Encouraged to Sign up for Electronic Newsletters
[Bellingham, Wash.] People surfing the web can find local tides, weather, Canadian Border waits and the latest Port news at the Port of Bellingham’s new website www.portofbellingham.com
This new website was developed during the past few months and features numerous resources and information that weren’t part of the earlier site, which was developed about six years ago. Creating a new website was a key strategic goal for the Port as a way to provide enhanced information to the community.
The new site has an entire section on the Bellingham waterfront redevelopment and a section about Port history with historical images and video interviews with former Port Commissioners and staff.
For those who want ongoing information from the Port, the new site allows people to register for a variety of newsletters that feature information about the waterfront development, general Port news, business news, marina news and real estate development opportunities. These newsletters will be sent out every other month.
Web visitors will find easy links to local airport flight and parking information, as well as enhanced information and links to the Alaskan Marine Highway, local passenger ferry and whale watching boats, Amtrak, Greyhound and the Whatcom Transportation Authority.
People interested in the Port’s environmental cleanup work will find an entire section devoted to various projects, links with partner agencies and in-depth explanations of the work underway.
Visiting and local boaters surfing the web can get information about nearby boating destinations, harbor maps and area parks. In addition, a new section on Port parks and public meeting and events facilities makes it easy to plan for recreation and space rentals.
From an economic development standpoint, the enhanced site will allow the Port to better market its real estate and lines of business and also to provide information about the Port’s Industrial Revenue Bonds and Foreign Trade Zones, along with other business services.
