Bellingham Airport Runway Re-Opens
[Bellingham, Wash.] At 10 a.m. today, the Bellingham International Airport runways reopened following the snowstorm and icy conditions that hit Whatcom County on Sunday. Port of Bellingham employees worked throughout the night plowing and de-icing the runways to make the airport operational as quickly as possible.
Port crews also have been working to clear snow from the airport passenger parking lots so that people will be able to move their vehicles. In addition Port crews have plowed access into the Fairhaven Transportation Terminal and the Bellingham Cruise Terminal as well as Port offices.
During the storm, a dozen flights into Bellingham were cancelled. Horizon Air bused their Bellingham passengers to SeaTac Airport. The Bellingham Commercial Terminal remained open throughout the storm and staffed so that travelers could wait for their flights and get current flight information.
Additional snow is predicted today so travelers are advised that conditions could change throughout the day.
People should check directly with their airline to find out the status of their flights.
