Allegiant Expands Bellingham Service
With Non-Stop Flights to Palm Springs
[Bellingham, Wash.] Passengers packed the Bellingham Airport terminal on Wednesday to enjoy the inaugural Allegiant flight of non-stop service to sunny Palm Springs, California.
Hauling golf bags and summery clothing, passengers departed a snowy Bellingham. Allegiant Air, LLC, started this seasonal jet service to link Bellingham with another popular vacation destination.
The low-fare carrier is celebrating the convenient new service to the Palm Springs International Airport with sunny introductory fares as low as $69* each way.
“We are pleased to extend another low-cost and convenient option to the Whatcom County community,” Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr., Allegiant Air president and CEO, said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only low-cost, nonstop service between Bellingham and Palm Springs.”
The new seasonal flights operate Wednesday and Saturday between Bellingham International Airport and Palm Springs International Airport. Through April 14, flights depart Bellingham at 11:55 a.m. arriving in Palm Springs at 2:45 p.m. Flights leaving Palm Springs will depart at 4:20 p.m. arriving in Bellingham at 7:10 p.m. (all flight times are local.)
Beginning Feb. 1, Allegiant will offer 10 flights weekly from Bellingham to Las Vegas. Allegiant began serving the market Aug. 5, 2004.
Palm Springs is a relaxing and recreational oasis in the premiere desert region of Southern California’s Coachella Valley, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, manicured golf courses and warm, beautiful blue skies. Year-round sunshine and world-class hotel and resort amenities entertain more than three million visitors each year. The destination is a Mecca for golf, tennis and sunbathing, with more than 110 golf courses, 600 tennis courts and 30,000 swimming pools. This scenic destination is comprised of eight distinctively charming desert resort cities, which include Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage.
"The Port is very pleased that Allegiant has again expanded its Bellingham service,” said Port of Bellingham Commission Vice President Doug Smith. “During this cold, wet weather, I believe people will welcome the opportunity to fly to Palm Springs and enjoy the sunshine"
The airline commented that market research and input from local community leaders indicate the Whatcom County communities will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Palm Springs as an alternative to connecting flights and long drives to other airports. Allegiant will utilize 150-seat, MD-80 series, jet-aircraft on the route.
The Allegiant Vacations division of the company will allow customers to double their sunshine fun with complete vacation packages at some of the area’s premier resorts, including Royal Sun Inn, Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa, Rancho Las Palmas Marriott Resort & Spa and Desert Springs-A JW Marriott Resort & Spa. Low-cost packages are available to include not only air and hotel, but car rentals for additional savings.
Allegiant’s $69* one-way introductory fare is limited, not available on all flights and must be purchased by Feb. 3, 2007, for travel through April 14, 2007. Reservations may be made through the company’s website at www.allegiantair.com, the airline’s Reservations Center at 702-505-8888 or professional travel agents.
