BLAINE PUBLIC FISHING PIER NOW OPEN
[Bellingham, Wash.] The Port of Bellingham has reopened the Blaine Public Fishing Pier located at the end of Marine Drive. It had been closed since mid-November after a vehicle crashed through the pier. The accident damaged a section of railing and caused the port to temporarily close access to the pier.
Renovated in 2002, the Blaine Public Fishing Pier is a popular destination with a picnic tables, benches, and a picnic shelter. It is open from dawn until dusk daily.
The Port of Bellingham operates Whatcom County’s major transportation terminals including the Bellingham Airport, Fairhaven Transportation Station and the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. The Port also serves about 2,000 moorage customers in its Blaine and Squalicum Harbors.
In addition, about 300 businesses operate on Port properties, which are managed by the Port Real Estate Division. The Port of Bellingham is a countywide independent special purpose government.
