31st Annual Holiday Port Wrap Up

On Dec. 4th , the Port celebrated the 31st year of Holiday Port at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal.

One of the most beloved aspects of the event is the annual gingerbread contest. The community submitted a total of 21 gingerbread structures this year. The top three People’s choices winners were the builders of:

  1. Happy 50th Willy Wonka by the Gray Family
  2. Custer Candy Cabin by Mr. Nicholes’ Class
  3. Cathedral in the Woods by Emily Nader

The contest was free, and open to bakers of all ages and abilities. The first-place winner for the People’s Choice award receives a cruise from San Juan Cruises! Category winners will be mailed place ribbons in the coming week.

In addition, the Port held the first ever Holiday Port Quest – a hunt to find little gingerbread people hidden in and around the Bellingham Cruise Terminal.  It was quite a competitive hunt, and all of the gingerbread people were found within the first hour! Visitors to Holiday Port 2021 were also able to see Santa in his study and snap a picture with him through the window, leave a letter for him in the North Pole mailbox, watch the incredible snowglobe display in the Dome Room and enjoy the annual Lighted Boat Parade from the waterside patio.

The Port would like to thank the community for their support and participation! And a huge thank you to San Juan Cruises for the People’s Choice Award prize donation!
