Marine Trades Career Exploration and Job Fair Returns May 9

The Port's Marine Trades Job Fair is set to return to Bellingham's Waterfront on Thursday, May 9 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Fishermen’s Pavilion. This event is free and open to the public.

The Job Fair offers students and community members the opportunity to network with working waterfront employers and explore careers in the marine trades. Attendees will be encouraged to try hands-on activities, including a walk around the docks, touch tanks, a seafood cooking demonstration, and more!

“Marine trades in Whatcom County create or support over 6,000 jobs” said Port Executive Director Rob Fix. “The Marine Trades Job Fair is a terrific opportunity for job seekers to learn more about our working waterfront by speaking directly with employers from multiple sectors and industries who are actively recruiting hardworking and enthusiastic employees.”

Job fair participants include Alaskan Leaders Fisheries, All American Marine, Artisan Alloys, Aspen Power Catamarans, Bellingham Technical College, Centerline Logistics, Dragon Fly Kayak Tours, Drayton Harbor Oyster Farm, Dream Boat Company, Epic Yacht Management, Holdfast Mariculture, Industrial Resources, LFS Marine, Mantle Industries, LLC, Marine Spill Response Corp., Northline Seafoods, NW School of Wooden Boat Building, Northwest Workforce Council, Northwest Maritime Apprenticeship, Phoenix Processor LP, Port of Bellingham, Salish Center for Sustainable Fishing Methods, San Juan Cruises, Seafarers International Union (SIU), Seattle Marine Bellingham, Seattle Maritime, Academy, Specialized Marine Transport, Tri-County Diesel, WA State Opportunity Scholarship, WA Department of Transportation, and WorkSource.

High school students attending the event are encouraged to research job fair participants ahead of time, and to ask questions about the industry and occupations. Lunch will be provided to students, career/job explorers and staff who register in advance through their school/work source representative.

This event is hosted by the Port of Bellingham in sponsorship with the NW Center of Excellence for Marine Manufacturing and Technology, Working Waterfront Coalition and Bellingham SeaFeast.
